So, I did it!
I gulped and took the plunge!
Blurb.com is having a book contest and the deadline is….tonight (lol!). I was working for a while on a book of the trip I did out west a decade ago. It turned into my fairy tale (of a sort).
Here’s the introduction to the book:
This book has been in the works for indirectly a decade. The images were taken on a trip out west in 2000, which was initially seen as a trip to embrace joy, but in retrospect, I see the decay was there at the beginning.
Relationships have a start, and some have an end. This is the journey of both.
Taken with my beloved Pentax K-1000 during the trip. It’s a camera still cherished and holds a special spot on my shelf. The camera broke during this trip, causing exposure issues. Archieved into their negative sleeves, I boxed them up and said I’d work on them more when I was less frustrated.
Time came and went and the box came off of the shelf. A decade had actually started to wear away at the negatives (no matter how careful I was with preserving) and the parallel between the images and my relationship’s end became clear. This book needed born.
Life is all about change and evolution. The creation, destruction and demise and rebirth of our selves and our surrounds. It’s the disintegrations and their rebuilds that make us who we are and how we rebound.
This is my fairy tale, of a sorts.
Enjoy, all! 🙂
Well, I finally got the soft cover version completed and uploaded! Surprisingly enough, Blurb’s large and small square blank templates are not proportionate ha! Took some tweaking and viola! finished!
Also am working on a decade long photo project of images of my road trip out west. Unbeknownst to me at the time of the trip, my camera (old Pentax k1000) went bad (meter broke) and everything got washed out when exposed. Thanks to the joys of photoshop, I’ve been reworking the images and boy do they look better! Goodbye grey hello contrast!
More on that later, for now, enjoy the soft cover of Where the wind!
This site has been my recent obsession. I spend quite a bit of time discussion the terrifying nature of stupidity (well, isn’t that a whole other rant?!). This site seems to encapsulate stupidity at its finest. I’ve been highly entertained by it and thought I’d post it for more to be entertained by reading.
Speaking of stupidity, watch Idiocracy. It’s scary-real.
< /end random> 🙂
So I’ve been in the works to convert the book from hardback to softback….it’s almost done! I still need to finish up (redo?) the cover. From 12×12 square to 7×7….it didn’t seem like much but it was! lol! I figured it would take me the weekend and so far I’m up to a week almost with it. Tonight the cover should be resized and PDF’d and ready to go. I will update here when finished.
I’ve been on the move lately from one house to another. Doing this move slowly so as to insure my sanity will be kept! The task of moving studios is the most challenging–kilns, plaster and marble wedging tables, drafting tables and shelves…wheels and clay! The list goes on and on. The one thing I’m finding is during the move, seeing all my papers and supplies and paints, I’ve been missing the studio. Soon the move will end and I’ll be ready to roll again!!!!
